Short term contracts and job security: Response from Pentland
Summary: Pentland states that work on short term contracts and job security is already taking place with all its main suppliers. But it needs to ensure this standard applies to all suppliers.
Pentland said: “These already form part of our work with suppliers. Although there are some problems in some countries, in general all our core business suppliers have permanent, direct and open-ended contracts with workers.” Pentland has also been involved in work on this within the ETI.
Play Fair’s view:
While this is positive, the company needs to clarify what ‘in general’ and ‘core suppliers’ mean. This standard must be applied thorough out the supply chain, and reach all workers employed making Pentland goods.
